In today’s busy world, Giant Eagle’s chef-quality prepared foods are in high demand. Some of our bigger stores have up to 50 Team Members working in this one department to help satisfy our customers’ appetites for salads, sushi, pizza, rotisserie meats and anything you could ever want on the side.
There is a very robust career path in Prepared Foods, beginning with Clerks who have an interest in food and food service. Clerks sell pre-packaged goods, dish up foods from the case, and with their special knowledge of recipe ingredients, help customers with gluten-free, vegan and other special diets.
Giant Eagle also has opportunities for Prep Cooks, Sous Chefs, Gourmet Chefs and Executive Chefs at varying levels of experience. A culinary degree and proven background are required for upper-level leadership roles. Team Members should also have an eye for design with the creativity to present beautifully merchandised foods and displays.
The pinnacle of success in Prepared Foods is to achieve a corporate position that has responsibility for recipe development, menu creation and/or oversight of bulk food production facilities.
