Position Summary

Manage and maintain all aspects of safety within the Transportation department to ensure Team Member safety, compliance with state and federal regulations, and to protect the Company’s interest and equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of initiatives and projects that align with and support the company’s safety strategy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of initiatives and projects that align with and support the company’s safety strategy.
  • Serve as the point of contact for safety with the Operations Leadership Teams. Provide weekly updates and accountability for the execution of leading indicator safety activities. Develop and conduct routine Leadership training programs.
  • Create and facilitate Safety Training Programs, including e-learning, new hire and driver development.
  • Manage the Smart Drive Camera system training, coaching and disciplinary processes.
  • Develop safety committee guide documents and required actions; lead monthly safety committee meetings. Coordinate investigation and correction of store opportunities reported through the Safety Committees. Conduct regular store visits and collaborate with peer safety specialists.
  • Lead the Driver Safety Intervention Program and provide oversight for the 3rd party Driver Observation Process.
  • Coordinate and oversee all incident investigations, incident classifications and reporting. Provide immediate response and guidance for serious incidents and emergency situations.

Reports To: Manager, Sr Safety

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelors Degree Safety or related field

Experience Required

  • 3 to 5 years

Experience Desired

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Windows Systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations and guidelines.

Work Environment

  • Aware of surroundings in a high traffic warehouse environment
  • Extreme Outdoor temperatures
  • Inclement weather (hot/cold, snowy, rainy)

  • Warehouse environment with exposure to hot and cold temperatures
