How did you come to work for Giant Eagle?

In 2010, I came to Giant Eagle as a part-time Cashier. After working on the Front End for some time, I moved into the Beer, Wine and Liquor (BWL) department, and eventually became a BWL Team Leader. I stayed in that position for about 4 years, before I became a Curbside Team Leader. Curbside Express was brand new to our store, and I got to see how it operates from the ground up. I did that for about a year and then I became a Front End Team Leader. Finally, from there I moved into my current position as a Sr. Curbside Team Leader. I oversee Curbside and the Front End.

What made you think of Giant Eagle as a possible place of employment?

My dad worked at Giant Eagle as a Baker. I can remember going to Christmas parties with him and seeing everyone together as if it was one big family. When my dad passed away, I decided to start with the Company, and I have been here ever since.

Can you describe your military career?

I served for 8 years in the Ohio Army National Guard, as a Military Police Officer (31B) before I was honorably discharged. As a Military Police Officer, it’s similar to Police Officers on the civilian side, just in a military uniform. I earned an Army Achievement Medal during my time, and I was assigned to be a Gunner. As a Gunner, I was able to shoot about seven or eight different U.S. weapons. My unit became the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) for the state of Ohio, and we had the opportunity to learn hazmat reaction.

Why have you chosen to stay with Giant Eagle?

Giant Eagle has always been flexible. When I first started working for the Company, I was still active in the Ohio Army National Guard, so I needed a job that understood my other obligations. I still feel the same way now. As a mother of three, I am still able to grow within the Company and have plenty of time to spend with my family.

How did you come to work for Giant Eagle?

I was looking for a part- time job after returning from military training and had always heard that Giant Eagle was a great company to work for. I was lucky enough to get a call back shortly after applying and was hired back in 2017.

Why have you chosen to stay with Giant Eagle?

I have fallen in love with the work environment created by great leaders and Team Members. Also, it seems like there are always different growth opportunities that open all over the area.

Can you describe your military career?

I am a current Combat Medic in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. I joined about four years ago and am currently serving a six-year contract, with a possible extension soon. I am responsible for keeping all service members healthy and safe, up to date on vaccinations, and treating any casualties that we may sustain.

Is there a moment that sticks out to you when you knew you’d made the right decision to work here?

I was recently put on very last-minute orders (eight hours to report), which would put me out of my position at Giant Eagle for up to three weeks. The support I received from my team and other leaders within the store was amazing.

Out of the newly refreshed Core Values (Respect All, Think Team, See It Own It, Work Smart, Live Well and Do Right), which Core Value resonates with you the most? Why?

The Core Value that resonates with me most would have to be Respect All. You never know what anyone is truly going through in their personal lives. I think it is very important to be understanding and be there for others to lean on for support, whenever they may need it.
