GIANT EAGLE INCREASES 2020 CORPORATE EQUALITY INDEX SCORE!
We are very proud to announce that Giant Eagle has earned a score of 90 on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), our highest score ever! The CEI is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Team Members. The average CEI score for all Fortune 500 companies is 71. Giant Eagle scored significantly higher at 90, yet we will not be fully satisfied until we achieve a perfect score of 100.
According to CEI, Giant Eagle earned a top rating for taking steps to ensure greater equity for our LGBTQ Team Members and their families in the form of our non-discrimination LGBTQ policies, equitable benefits, corporate social responsibility, and our inclusive culture. We remain committed to working harder to ensure equal opportunities for all our Team Members, as well as our guests and the many community members we serve. Although Giant Eagle’s non-discrimination policies protect LGBTQ candidates and Team Members, LGBTQ people are not protected by law in all counties and states, which is why Giant Eagle continues to take steps to stand up and fight for equality.
