How do you stay passionate in your career?

I stay passionate about my career by listening, learning, and trying to look at things in a new way. I listen to Recruitment Marketing podcasts. I try reading books, both related to Recruitment Marketing and general thought leaders. One of the most impactful ways to stay passionate is just talking with people to understand their pain points or needs. Remembering to take moments to celebrate the wins or acknowledge the opportunities to push next time also helps. Reading the stories from our Team Member Tuesdays, Fun Fact Fridays, and Tech Thursdays brings me joy to know what a wonderful Team Member base we have at Giant Eagle.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I'm not sure, I think I’m fairly open about my life. I suppose at home I tend to be much more sarcastic and sillier with my kids.

Who has helped you develop into who you are today?

I have been lucky to work with several individuals that have helped me to grow professionally and navigate Giant Eagle. My manager, Nicole Zellie, challenges me and helps me to look at different perspectives. She is also supportive and provides good feedback. Vicki Clites and Voni Woods inspire me with their positive attitudes and people-focused attention. Jeremy Shapira always finds thought provoking questions that have helped evolve our work. I am also fortunate that my Team is a source of inspiration and idea generation. They ask questions, challenge me to push new ideas, and provide great dialogue.

How do you stay passionate in your career?

I've been fortunate in my career to have experiences in distribution, HR, and transportation so I'm always learning something new.  I love a new challenge!  As my career progressed, I find enjoyment in watching my team: grow as leaders, think through complex problems together, and learn from their mistakes.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Starting up the reclamation center was a significant project that taught me how to effectively navigate the organization and to lead others through change, negotiate contracts, and maintain our strong relationship with our local food banks.

How do you stay passionate in your career?

I really enjoy making things better for people. I am always looking for ways to make processes more efficient for my team, and tasks easier and simpler for all our Team Members.

Who has helped you develop into who you are today?

The person that has had the most influence on my life is my mom. She is a very caring person and has always remained positive. I share her positivity and caring for the important people in my life and her ability to always take on more and find a way to get it all done!

What is your proudest accomplishment?

I am the proudest of my daughter. She is a freshman at Penn State and I am so proud of her in college and she even made Dean’s List and was asked to join a National Honor Society for freshmen. Even more importantly, she is such a caring person, and I can’t wait to see what is next for her. I am just so proud that I must have done something right to get her to this point!

How do you stay passionate in your career?

I love to help others and make my customers happy, and that's why I choose customer service. I reach out to others when discouraged and ask for feedback. I also know where I used to be, how far I've come, and where I want to go, so that helps a lot.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I have been on my own since I was 14 years old. I lived a rough life as a child and a young adult, but I now have four adult children and have been with my husband for 22 years. I am a great woman today.

How do you stay passionate in your career?

I'm a naturally curious person so I lean into that drive to learn more about everything around me. It's great in my career because it allows me to constantly grow and find new opportunities all around me.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I'm an avid scuba diver. I've been on 80+ dives and have been down to 111 feet. Diving with my friends and family is my favorite part of the experience. It’s so fun to share an activity you love with the people you love!

What is your proudest accomplishment?

I was the first person in my immediate family to graduate from college. It was quite the culture shock when I got to college - my first class had more people in it than my entire high school did! But it was a great way to expand my horizons and learn more about the world around me.
