Her ability to go “the extra mile” is unparalleled, and we are so thankful to have her on our team. Get to know more about Denise here.
Denise, GetGo Team Member at the Ebensburg GetGo
How did you come to work for GetGo?
I’ve been here for almost six years, and I’ve been a Cashier the whole time. I do help back in the kitchen occasionally when they need me. Basically, I like to interact with customers because I like to meet new people. I like to treat them the way I was raised to treat people. We have so many regulars that come in. My biggest thing is the coffee bar. I like to do whatever I can to help keep the place looking nice. I like to make the customers feel welcomed when they come in because a lot of people don’t have family around here. I think if you just say “Good Morning” or ask how they’re doing, you can’t imagine how that makes them feel, and as a result, they come back.
What made you think of GetGo as a possible place of employment?
I used to work in retail, and I like working with people. I’ve always worked with people. I worked in a factory setting for a while, and it just wasn’t for me. I had to get away from there. I wanted to work with people again. I feel comfortable working with customers in the retail setting.
Why have you chosen to stay with GetGo?
I’m comfortable here, and I look forward to coming to work. Eric is a wonderful boss. I couldn’t ask for a better boss. He works with anybody. If you need time off, he works with you. He’s a wonderful person, and I feel comfortable around him. If I need anything, I know I can go to him. There have been times I’ve been sick, and he texts me to find out how I’m doing. He really cares about his team.
What do you love about GetGo?
The people and my fellow Team Members. We help each other, and we look out for each other. If somebody needs something, we’re right there for them. We’re a wonderful team. One member of our team is currently battling cancer, and she has been off, so we’re doing everything we can to be there for her.
What makes the Ebensburg GetGo a great place to work?
The location where it’s at is one reason. We have a lot of State Police that are customers here. For quite some time, we weren’t open 24-hours-a-day, but now we are. They’re thrilled that we’ve moved to 24/7 and can order food from our kitchen throughout the night.
I really enjoy seeing our regulars. We have a group that comes in every morning and if they don’t make it one day, I miss them. On the flip side, if I’m working a different shift or I’m off, the next time they come in, they ask me where I’ve been. It means a lot to me. I really love our customers.
“Looking at Giant Eagle versus other pharmacies in the area, Giant Eagle has a larger volume of prescriptions getting filled, which means the staff is larger. I really liked that aspect because I get to work with several Pharmacists and learn from each of them.”
