We have long history of promoting our people from within. In fact, many of our senior leaders started as hourly Team Members. Everyone at Giant Eagle has an equal chance to participate in training sessions and mentoring programs to grow leadership at all levels.

Leadership Development Programs
Giant Eagle has two formal training programs to develop effective leaders for frequent growth opportunities within our stores. These include:
Team Leader Development Program
This 9-12 week program provides on-hand exposure to various departments within a Giant Eagle store. Team Members work closely with Master Trainers and receive formal feedback to evaluate progress. Our instructors and mentors provide the knowledge, tools and resources to position new Team Leaders for success in leading their own specific departments.
Retail Leader Development Program
Classroom and in-store training prepare Team Leaders to become successful Assistant Store Leaders, which is the next step for advancement into Store Leader roles. Trainees work closely with Senior Retail Leaders during this 18-36 month program and receive formal feedback to assess their progress with talent management and financial responsibilities, key areas in a retail store.
Intern Development Program
This program is offered to Team Members who are attending college and meet the qualifications for placement. Please see the “Internship Opportunities” page for more details.
